The owner of this beautiful home in the country in Zachary, Louisiana originally felt like she wanted stained oak cabinets. However, as she picked other colors and finishes for her home, she decided that she really wanted an older, crustier look. The problem? The cabinets were already built….out of oak! So this is what we saw when we got there.

The budget didn’t allow for completely filling in and hiding the heavy grain that existed in the wood….so we just went with it! We primed, painted, crackled, distressed a little and glazed it! So it’s a little heavier of a look, but I think even though the grain shows….it goes with the rest of the home! Here’s a few close up pictures.

Here is the complete after photo…

After we had finished these cabinets, the client decided to add the same finish to this corble at the end of the stairway…

in a custom built home in Baton Rouge, LA! We added a custom faux finish over an embossed paper to this fireplace to give it some drama!

This fireplace was originally painted white and was pretty plain. The builder wanted us to add a wow factor to it! The two center panels slide out to reveal an enclosure for a television. I forgot to get a totally before picture, but here is one after we started. We started with a nice Lincrusta embossed wallcovering….installing it only in the two front panels. If you’ve never seen Lincrusta, it is a clay based wallcovering that is applied like wallpaper (http://www.lincrusta.com/TheLincrustaCollection.Asp).

Here are a couple of close up pictures of the Lincrusta after it was finished!

in this re-model of a home in Donaldsonville, LA. It was a fun faux finishing project where we were given free reigns with the design!

Have you ever been in a house where they had a big square box in the middle of the kitchen ceiling that had once been lighting? That’s what we were faced with in this kitchen, it sure made for a big eyesore when you walked into the room. The client’s question was “can you do something with this?”. Hhmmm…sure we can! We added some wood panels to where the lights had been, along with some trim and went to work!

After we primed it, we added some embossed wallpaper to the flat squares of the box. Then we primed the wallpaper and painted the entire piece a beautiful bronze!

After two coats of the bronze paint we added a black glaze over the entire piece. Our client was really pleased with how well it turned out! Of course pictures don’t do it justice, maybe I need to take a photography class! lol She has invited us back to give the light fixture a make-over! Can’t wait to go back!

Built on the beautiful waterfront property located on the Diversion Canal at the Waterfront, we had the wonderful opportunity to apply several different paint and plaster treatments! These clients entertain often and wanted their home to make a statement! The homeowner gave me an idea of what she had envisioned, after listening to her and seeing the paint colors and fabrics, I was able to create finishes that she fell in love with! So first let me show you some pictures of the kitchen and what we had to work with. Here is a before picture to give you an idea of what it looked like the first time I saw it!

The range hood was constructed out of plywood and we applied a bronze metallic plaster finish to it! Here is a close up……

Faux finished hood!

We also applied a nice antiqued finish to the kitchen cabinets and bar….

Faux finished antiqued kitchen cabinets in Baton Rouge!

And the icing on the cake in the kitchen is the triangle ceiling!! This was done in a different type of metallic plaster and when the light is on at night….it truly makes a statement!

Decorative plaster in celing!

I hope you have enjoyed viewing this beautiful kitchen! Come back and visit and see pictures of more work that we did in this house! I would like to thank my great friend Renee Holder of Artistry in faux. Renee is a decorative painter from Arkansas and I invited her down to work on this project with me. We had so much fun and I can’t wait to have her down again…for work or play!
